Hooded eyes can range from slightly hooded to very hooded, where almost all of the lid is covered. With some hooded eyes, you can’t see any trace of an eyelid at all, as it seems to melt seamlessly into the brow bone. Either way, makeup for hooded and small eyes can be an extremely difficult task to master. One of the trickiest things to master is eyeliner because, depending on how hooded your eyes are, it can really change the way your face will look. Maybe your eyes are extremely hooded, or you just wish you had a little more eyelid space for your makeup; this tutorial will help you master the perfect winged eyeliner look! No matter where you are in your hooded eye journey, consider this your survival guide.

Step 1: The common rule for winged liner is to trace and imaginary line that extends past your bottom lashline in an upwards direction, towards your brow. This will create the flick.

Step 2: Use your free hand to stretch your lid outward to make your lid smooth and wrinkle free. Then, grab your liquid eyeliner and draw a straight line from the outer corner of your eyelid towards the end of your eyebrow. This technique can make all the difference if you have hooded eyes.

Step 3: Line your lid by following the natural shape of your eye. The line should either be uniform in thickness or thinnest at the inner corner.

Step 4: When you open your eyes it will create a little curve that follows along your crease line, leaving the same space between the crease and the whole liner. This helps visually elongate the eye. Make sure that you color in any spaces between the lines.

Lastly, add several coats of your favorite long-lasting mascara and you are ready to go!
