Looking for a unique hairstyle to rock this summer? Why don’t you try this super easy and fabulous inverted braid hairstyle?
For this tutorial, you will need a couple of supplies – rubber bands, hairspray and enough bobby pins to keep your hair secured.
Step 1: An inverted flip adds a little extra flair to the standard braided look. Separate your hair in half.
Step 2: Smooth your hair first and then gather the crown section into a ponytail. Fix with hair band, tying more loosely than you would with a standard ponytail.
Step 3: Using a couple of fingers, create a space in the hair just above the hair band. Twist the hair in the ponytail to make it easier to thread through. Thread the twisted ponytail through the hole at the front, pulling it out the bottom. Slide up the hair band to tighten for a stronger hold.
Step 4: Grab the side sections, twist them slightly and bring them towards the back.
Step 5: Use rubber band to secure them in place underneath the inverted ponytail.
Step 6: Brush your hair again.
Step 7: Start braiding the rest of your hair using the traditional three-strand method. When finished, gently pull on the edges of the braid to make it wide and flat.
Step 8: Use a rubber band which is the same colour as your hair to secure the braid
Step 9: Pin your look into place. To do so, insert bobby pins around the base of your inverted ponytail until all hair sections are fully secured to your scalp. Finally, lightly spray with hairspray if there are any wisps or frizzy hair. This also helps secure the inverted effect, though it is not strictly necessary. Now you just need to find a swanky soiree or formal event to rock it at!
