Contouring is the art of subtlety defining your features using makeup. By using light and dark shades, you can enhance, define and even re-shape your features. Who wouldn’t say no to that!
Step 1: Choose your products. You do not need a specific contour kit in order to get the results you want. You just need a proper contour and highlighting powder to make things happen. Grab a shade of foundation 2-3 shades darker than your skin tone for the contour and 2-3 shades lighter than your natural skin tone for the highlighting. Powder will give you a much stronger and dramatic highlight, especially when layered. This formula is better for those with oily skin. If you’re more on the oily side, you might find that liquid highlighter to slips around too much. Highlighter attracts and mimics light by giving the illusion of higher, brighter features and it can enhance your contouring results.
Step 2: To make your nose appear taller and more slender, you want to place the contouring colour along the sides of the nose and the highlighting colour on the bridge. Use a small angled brush to apply the contour colour down the bridge of your nose to make it really pop. Start with a light hand, it’s easier to build product than to take it away.
Step 3: The closer together you place your contour lines, the slimmer your nose will appear.
Step 4: Apply a thin line from top of your nose to the end. It helps in emphasizing on the bridge of the nose so make sure it’s thinner.
Step 5: Take a clean, fluffy brush and buff out your lines. Do not blend the contour lines into the highlight or it will look muddy.
Step 6: You can use off white or a nude shade for eyeshadow or specific highlighters to contour your nose. That is it!
