Sometimes it is very difficult to think of an interesting recipe to surprise your guests with. There are different occasions you may invite friends over. If you want to treat them with something delicious and interesting that will not take you a lot of time to do it, then we suggest you try some of today’s recipe ideas for starters. You may even treat your guests only with these meals, which are also perfect for brunch or an afternoon snack. Here they are!
#1 Egg and tomato pie
We are used to eating only sweet pies that contain a lot of sugar and fruits. However, there are still pies that do not contain a single grain of sugar. In fact, they contain products perfect for a “salty” dish. The first recipe is exactly like that – a salty pie which contains eggs and tomatoes. Here is how to prepare it:
½ cup of milk
4 slices of bread
2 cups of cherry tomatoes
4 ounces of goat cheese
1 cup of chickpeas
¼ cup of basil
1 teaspoon of salt
Get a container and pour the milk in it. Then add the eggs and the salt. Mix the ingredients well with a whisk. Then you need to cut the slices of breads in cubes. Do not make them too small. Then use a spoon and mix the bread with the rest of the ingredients. After that put the container in the fridge for about 2 hours or more to cool down.
When the time is up, get the container out of the fridge. Then add the cherry tomatoes in it, but first you need to wash them and cut them in halves, or if you prefer you may cut them in quarters. After that add the cup of chickpeas, the goat cheese and the basil leaves. Mix them all well.
The final thing you need to do is to put the whole mixture in a baking tin and to bake it for about 35 or 40 minutes at 175 0C. When you notice the crust turning deliciously reddish, you would know that the pie is ready. Cut the pie in pieces and serve them either when the pie is still warm, or when it has already cool down.
Beef stuffed peppers
The next recipe is for those of you who love meat. This recipe is very easy to do and, of course, very delicious. It will not take you a lot of time and it is perfect for a starter or for a light afternoon snack. Here is what you need to do:
4 big red bell peppers
1 pound of ground beef
3 ounces of feta cheese
¾ cup of red chopped onion
¼ cup of parsley
¼ cup of mint
¼ cup of olives
salt and pepper to taste
First, you need to get a container and put in it the ground beef. Then add the feta cheese and the chopped onions. Mix them well before you add the other ingredients. Now you need to chop the parsley and the mint and add them into the mixture. Finally, add the olives. Do not forget that you need to remove the stones from the olives and again to chop them. Then add some salt and pepper to taste.
When the mixture is ready, wash the bell peppers and after that cut the green part where the stem is, but do not throw it out. Remove the inner part of the peppers to make room for the stuffing. Fill in the bell peppers with the stuffing. If you have some more stuffing left, you may use a couple of bell peppers more. Then put the “lids” back on top of the peppers to close them.
Get a baking tin and lay backing paper on the bottom of it. Put the bell peppers in the baking tin and bake them for about 40-45 minutes at 200 0C. When they are ready, remove them from the stove and serve them while they are still warm, but they are very delicious cold as well. And this is it!
