Choose the right toothbrush

There are certain characteristics that you should look for in whatever toothbrush you choose, regardless of whether it is manual or powered. It doesn’t matter whether you use an electric or manual toothbrush. They’re both equally as good, as long as you brush all the surfaces of all your teeth. However, you must always choose toothbrushes with soft bristles. The bristles need to be able to bend, to kind of get right under that gum. Don’t brush too hard – the bristles should lightly sweep the tooth. The size of the brush’s head is important, too, especially if you have a smaller mouth. Brushes also have various sizes of handles and different angles. The best toothbrush is one that fits your mouth and allows you to reach all teeth easily. To ensure your toothbrush has undergone rigorous quality control tests for cleaning effectiveness and safety, ask your dentist for a recommendation.

Buy the right toothpaste

It is important that you use toothpaste that’s right for you. Today there is a wide variety of toothpaste designed for many conditions, including cavities, gingivitis, tartar, stained teeth and sensitivity. If you suffer from sensitive teeth or discoloration, there is no need to worry because there are many different types of toothpaste out there to help with any issues you may have. If you are a heavy tea, coffee or wine drinker, you may notice discoloration or yellowing of the teeth. There are some great whitening formulas out there that can help to brighten your smile.

Brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes

You may not be cleaning the teeth thoroughly if you do not brush them long enough or in the right manner.  The best way to prevent tooth decay is to brush teeth twice daily for at least two minutes with fluoride toothpaste to remove plaque, limit the frequency, and amount of sugary food and drinks consumed. Essentially, two minutes is the right amount of time to brush your teeth. If you don’t brush your teeth long enough, you may not be getting your teeth clean enough. If you leave behind bacteria on the teeth after brushing, it can lead to serious problems. Although it is crucial to pay attention to the amount of time you spend when brushing, it is even more significant to ensure that all the surfaces of the teeth and mouth are clean.

How to brush teeth properly

Make sure you brush all the surfaces of all your teeth, which should take about two minutes. Remember to brush the inside surfaces, outside surfaces and the chewing surfaces of your teeth. Gently brush with a short, vertical or circular motion. Don’t brush across your teeth. Hold the brush at a 45-degree angle and cover each tooth with short strokes. Make sure to get the outer and inner surfaces of each tooth. Use a soft-bristled brush to gently clean your mouth without irritation.

Use dental floss afterwards

Flossing isn’t just for dislodging food wedged between your teeth. Regular flossing may also reduce gum disease and bad breath by removing plaque that forms along the gum line. Holding the floss tautly between your thumbs and index fingers, slide it gently up-and-down between your teeth. Gently slide the floss between the teeth in a zigzag motion. Slide floss up and down against the tooth surface and under the gum line. Floss each tooth thoroughly with a clean sect
