One of a lot of people’s favorite Christmas time activities is cooking special dinner for their families. One of the reasons for this is that people have a lot of free time that they could fill up with pleasant activities and another one is that they want to bring happiness and joy to their loved ones.

There are a lot of dishes one could prepare for Christmas, but the most popular one are the Christmas cookies. They bring some additional Christmas spirit to the holiday atmosphere and everybody likes them.

Today we have prepared for you a couple of recipes suitable for the Christmas holidays. They are both delicious and easy to prepare at the same time because the main ingredient in both of them is puff pastry. Here is what we have prepared for you!

#1 Heart Blossoms

1 sheet of puffy pastry

9 tablespoons of raspberry jam

1 egg

Step 1

The first recipe in our list is called Heart Blossoms because of the cute shape of the puff pastry cookies. What you need to do to make it is to get the sheet of puffy pastry and to cut it into 9 equally big square pieces.

You can do this by cutting the sheet into three vertical pieces that are equally big and then to cut it into three horizontal pieces that are equally big. In the end, there will be 9 puffy pastry squares.

Step 2

The next thing you need to do is to scramble the egg nicely using a fork, or if you want it to be faster, you could use a mixer. Then you may add some water if you want to make an egg wash, but be careful not to add too much.

Step 3

When the egg wash is ready you could take the raspberry jam and put a spoonful of it on the center of each one of the puff pastry squares. Then apply some egg wash on the outer corners of the squares using a cooking brush.

Step 4

Then you need to close the raspberry jam inside the puff pastry piece. The egg wash on the sides will help the corners stick together. You need to stick each one of the corners of the puff pastry square to the one that is located diagonally to it. Then create a ball of it by rolling it a little on your palms.

Step 5

Once the balls of puffy pastry are ready you need to flatten them just a bit. Make 4 cuts in the 4 sides of the flattened pastry ball. Then make 4 more cuts between the first 5 cuts. Then you need to roll outwards the small wing-cuts. Do the same with all the pastry balls.

Step 6

After that you need to get a baking tin and to put some baking paper on the bottom of it. Put the heart blossoms made of puffy pastry on top of it with some distance between them. And when this is ready, put the tin into the oven and bake them for 15-20 minutes at 2000 C.

When the time is up, take the tin out of the oven and the heart blossoms will be ready. You can serve them sprinkled with some powdered sugar.

#2 Fruit Pastries

2 sheets of puffy pastry
8 ounces of cream cheese
¼ cup of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Step 1

First, you need to put the cream cheese in a bowl and mash it a little using a spoon. Then add the powdered sugar and the vanilla extract. Mix the three ingredients well until they become one homogeneous mixture.

Step 2

Sprinkle some flour on your cooking table and put the first sheet of puffy pastry on it. Use a rolling pin to make the sheet flattened a little bit. Then cut it into 9 equally big squares by cutting the sheet into three vertical pieces that are equally big and then to cut it into three horizontal pieces again equally big.

Step 3

Take the first square of puffy pastry and put a half a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture on the center of it. Then put a couple of pieces of strawberry on top of it. You need to wash the strawberries beforehand and to cut them into flat pieces. Do the same with the rest of the puffy pastry squares.

Step 4

Now get a baking tin and to put some baking paper on the bottom of it. Put the squares on top of it and then bake them in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 2000 C. When the pastries are ready, take them out of the oven.

You could have them sprinkled with some powdered sugar. And voila! Enjoy!
