Learning how to create volume on the crown of your head is quite easy. It’s also important, because that’s where you need volume the most. Creating volume at the crown gives you all the lift, bounce, and body your hair needs when it is in combination with cute loose waves. Whether your hair is long, short, or somewhere in between, a little lift provides that extra wow effect so you’ll never suffer through a bad hair day again. This is why we have prepared this tutorial – to show you how to create cute loose waves with enough volume at the crown which will be clipped away by your bangs. In other words, you are about to read how to recreate this super cute hairstyle for any upcoming event!

Step 1: The first thing you need to do is to clip your bangs away from the rest of your hair for now. If it is convenient for you, place your bangs in front of your face as it will be easier for you to deal with the rest of your hair. Use clippers for this purpose as they can grasp all of your hair at once.

Step 2: Now it is time to start teasing the crown sections! Working with sections, tease them to add volume to your hair. Grab the crown section which is not pinned behind your ears and backcomb it. The key is to avoid combing vigorously back and forth – this can damage your hair and cause breakage. Instead, brush downwards from above your roots, pull out the comb, and repeat.

Step 3: Add a quick blast of your favourite hairspray to secure the volume in place.

Step 4: Next up, take two or three bobby pins, remove the clippers from your bangs and clip away your bangs towards the back. Try not to press to hard.

Step 5: Apply hairspray all over your hair.

Finally, you can start making waves. You can use as big of a section as you want but tend to do just the top-most layer to save on time. Take a large barrel curling iron and start to curl sections of hair. Wrap a relatively small section of your hair around the barrel of the curling wand. Wait for a couple of minutes before releasing the curl. Repeat the process with the next section of your hair. Use a comb to gently brush out curls and tease the crown to give your hair a bit of lift.
