Who knew that it takes only about 25 minutes to transform your long, boring hair into a fabulous and chic short hair! If you have a soft, slightly layered style that could use a good trim, then the easy steps below will guide you throughout the way.

Step 1: Start with wet hair. Brush your hair nicely to remove any knots or tangles. Take a fine-tooth comb and separate your hair as indicated on the pictures in this tutorial. Divide your hair into two sections so it will be easier and quicker for you to trim it. Grab half of your hair into a bun at the top of your head and secure it with a clipper. This way the bottom section of your hair will remain.

Step 2: Work with the bottom layer of your hair. Then, drag your fingers down your hair and measure where you want to cut it.

Step 3: Hold your fingers towards the ground and cut downwards with scissors.

Step 4: Even the bottom layer of your hair so that the line is straight.

Step 5: Release the next layer of your hair. If you just want to give your hair a small trim to get rid of your damaged ends, then just cut an inch or two of your hair.

Step 6: The upper section of your hair should be slightly longer than the bottom. This would create volume.

Step 7: Comb through your hair one more time.

Step 8: Release another hair section and trim again.

Step 9: Even the hair pieces as you go. To get rid of the blunt edges, cut straight up into your ends to thin them out and make them more feathered.

Step 10: Lightly mist your hair with a spray bottle and comb through so that your bangs are straight.

Step 11: See the length of your bangs. Trim more if you think that they are too long for your style.

Step 12: Pull your front section straight to one side and identify how long you want the layer to be. Cut from the bottom at your longest layer, in a straight line ending at your shortest layer. Finally, brush out your hair, and fix up any uneven parts.
