Glossy retro, brushed-out waves are definitely a hairstyle you should master! These waves deliver a certain retro-inspired finish to your look. Since we could all use a little help in that department, we decided to create this special tutorial with detailed steps on how to achieve this retro hair look.

Step 1: Add a little leave-in conditioner on your ends and lengths of your hair. You can also invest in a special beach waves tousling spray to maximize volume and waves. Since you are about to use a heat styling straightener, it is very important to add a heat protection spray. This way your hair will be protected from split ends, breakage, dryness and lack of luster.

Step 2: Use a large barrel curling iron, holding it horizontally so it’s parallel to the ground, and curl the section of hair under.

Step 3: Following the same technique, continue sectioning all of your hair, curling it carefully as you go.

Step 4: Hold the barren in place to make sure that you heat up the hair section properly.

Step 5: Once you remove the curling iron, pin this section in place to let the curl cool.

Step 6: Allow the entire hair to cool and set for at least 10-15 minutes. After, gently remove all pins and allow the curls to fall naturally.

Step 7: To create soft waves and for your hairstyle to look more natural, comb though the curls to break them slightly.
